The construction period of an ordinary steel structure building may be one-third or even more shorter than that of traditional buildings.
From an environmental protection perspective, steel structures are simply green pioneers. Steel can be recycled. When a building is demolished, most of the steel can be recycled and processed again for new construction, which greatly reduces the generation of construction waste. Moreover, the pollution to the environment during production and processing is relatively small. At the same time, the good thermal performance of steel helps in building energy conservation, which is in line with the current concept of green and sustainable development.
In practical applications, steel structures can be seen everywhere. Skyscrapers that tower into the clouds, with the strong support of steel structures, constantly challenge the limits of building height; large-span bridges, with steel structures, turn natural barriers into thoroughfares, stably spanning rivers, lakes and seas; and various industrial plants, where steel structures provide open spaces to meet the installation and production needs of large-scale equipment.
