Steel structure encyclopedia: "Invisible skeleton" that makes buildings more stable - column support

  • 2025-05-22

1. X-type support

X-type support is one of the most common forms of column support in steel structure. It consists of two diagonal bars crossed, shaped like the letter "X".X-type support has strong lateral and torsion resistance, which can effectively improve the overall stability of the structure. In addition, the construction of X-type support is simple, material-saving, and suitable for steel structure workshops of various spans.

2. V-type support

V-type support is composed of two inclined bars meeting at the top, shaped like the letter "V". This support form has good force performance and can effectively bear and transfer horizontal loads. The node structure of V-type support is relatively simple and easy to construct. However, compared with X-type support, V-type support uses more steel and is suitable for large-span or high-rise steel structure buildings.

3. K-type support

K-type support consists of a vertical bar and two diagonal bars, shaped like the letter "K". This support form has strong lateral stiffness and is suitable for steel structures that bear large horizontal loads. The node structure of the K-type support is relatively complex and the construction difficulty is relatively large. However, in some special occasions, the K-type support can better meet the structural force requirements.

4. Herringbone support

The herringbone support consists of two inclined rods that meet at the top, resembling the Chinese character "". This support form has good stability and is suitable for large-span steel structures. The amount of steel used in the herringbone support is less than that of the V-type support, but the construction difficulty is relatively large. In practical applications, the herringbone support is often used in combination with other support forms to improve the overall performance of the structure.

5. Combined support

The combined support is a combination of the above-mentioned support forms to meet the force requirements of different structural parts. The combined support has higher flexibility and adaptability, can give full play to the advantages of various support forms, and improve the overall stability of the structure.

In short, the forms of steel structure column support are diverse, and each support form has its own characteristics. During the design process, the appropriate form of inter-column support should be selected based on the function, span, load and other factors of the building to ensure the safety, stability and economic benefits of the structure.
